Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering in all its guises is both essential for the future and rewarding for those involved. Opportunities abound for those interested in throwing themselves whole-heartedly at it and the wide spectrum of activities ensures that personal satisfaction is guaranteed. From microscopic to megalithic, in areas ranging from biology to exploring deep space, electrical engineers are involved in the design of devices that allow new frontiers to be explored. Flexibility is the word that best summarizes Electrical Engineering. Electrical engineers apply the basic sciences to control and transform energy and transfer information in ways that are vital to the operation of modern society. Inarguably, they are the driving force behind today's innumerable technological marvels.

It is a universally accepted fact that the industrial and economic development of a nation depends on the strength and efficient utilization of Power Systems, more so in a developing nation like India. The vast application potential and tremendous scope for productive research work in this area can be very well realized in conjunction with the application of concepts of Control Systems and Power Electronics. In all, the ubiquitous relevance of Electrical Technology makes an electrical engineer indispensable. To this end, the Department of EEE, VITS seeks to shape its under graduates into critical, original and independent thinkers sufficiently equipped with the necessary tools to venture out into the practical world with professional competency, who can add to the body of scientific knowledge.

"In dreams begin responsibilities"......As these soulful words of William Butler Yeats inspire us incessantly to channel our efforts in vividly discovering the innate beauty of Electrical Engineering, we contemplate of creating a common platform to stand together and work in unison in this collective endeavour of ours.

Great ideas and real inventions win their own way, determining their own place by intrinsic merit alone. The bedazzling erudition and unfettered imagination of the founding fathers of Electrical Engineering hold us in awe. Their open, shining intellects, their free and gentle humour, their agility and breadth of thought, the ease with which they shifted from technology to social concerns and art are the sources from which our confidence stems.The purpose of the Department of EEE's academic programmes is in essence, to provide quality education and foster leading edge research as a means of producing highly qualified engineers and leaders of tomorrow, in keeping with the mission of Vignan.

MISSION STATEMENTS ::

We intend to mould Electrical Engineering students into graduates, who will demonstrate an acceptable level of appreciation for and understanding of contemporary issues facing society as a whole.

Our graduates will.....
Be cognizant that graduation is but a mere beginning step in the promulgation of professional engineering competency.

Be able to inculcate in themselves a respect for unpalatable truth.

Assimilate the need for life long process of learning with longing interest, devotion and persistence for the maintenance and enhancement of professional practice of Electrical Engineering.

Be armed with the rudimentary knowledge, skills and approach to learning that shall enable them to profit from self-initiated, tireless, and continued scientific inquiry and learning.

Be equipped with a sufficiently broad background to interact with experts in their electrical areas of study and/or be adaptable enough to pursue higher education in their chosen specialization.

Contribute optimally to the solution of Electrical Engineering problems through a systematic, rigorous and pragmatic approach.

Display mature disposition in working effectively in collaboration with groups representing various engineering disciplines for the furtherance of Science and Technology.

Be capable of maintaining the highest possible ethical standards with integrity in their personal and professional lives.
